Last weekend was, as Papa Kay would say, a “Top 10” sort of weekend.

Beautiful weather with a beautiful babe walking around beautiful Bradley Lake |
The weather was absolutely gorgeous - and it arrived just in time to open up our Puyallup Saturday Market and the Puyallup Spring Fair. While we didn’t take any pictures of our many adventures throughout P-town on Saturday, we did remember to whip out the camera a few times the next day.
Sometimes fate just takes you where you need to go. Earlier in the week Adam broke the “bad news” that he had a group meeting for class on Sunday on campus. We turned this weekend interruption into a grand downtown Seattle adventure by combining this educational necessity with some much needed family time.
True to Jr. Wilhoit form - we ended up trying to squeeze a bit too much in too short a time frame. Between church meetings and UW meetings in the morning - we ran quite a bit late. Aunt Kay was gracious and patient, though - and welcomed us without a tardy pass.
By the time we arrived, however, Eila had used up all of her happy - so the first order of business became helping her take a nap. We knew she needed a dark place to snooze and Aunt Kay added the good idea that it should probably be somewhere that Miss Beanie wouldn’t find her. We settled on a nice grey wall in a beautiful corner of the garden.

Perfect place for a nap. |
Having devoured delicious homemade seafood sandwiches a’la Kay and John and truly decadent cookies de-Claire, little Eila remained quiet in her little corner of heaven. Cozy though she was - she wasn’t being very social or enjoying the sunshine - so we attempted to wake her.

Aunt Kay discovers Eila is her mother’s daughter in at least her love of sunny snoozing places. |
Unbundling the cocoon became the only way to wake our little caterpillar.

It’s a beautiful butterfly baby girl! |
Lest you be concerned that Eila has been bitten by a sleep inducing bug - I can assure you she was just making up for lost time. You see, Eila turned five months old last Tuesday - and on Wednesday she celebrated by giving up naps at daycare. Sigh. Poor Jamie! The only positive parts of the daytime sleeping strike have been 1) she’s still a happy girl for Jamie 2) she’s starting to sleep without swaddling at night and 3) she’s starting to sleep longer at night (knock on wood)!
Perhaps her changing sleeping patterns have something to do with some new exercises...

Jumping for Joy |
Thanks for another fun family adventure Seattle family! Can’t wait till next time.
Another wonderful post! Eila looks especially happy in her "Jenny Jump-Up" unit, while Zoe "helps" by witnessing.
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Annika, Jump, Jump, Jump!!! So glad you were able to enjoy a perfect weekend together. Love those smiles!
