Christmas Card Capers

Preparing for the holidays is a daunting task every year - almost as daunting as reigniting one’s motivation to post pictures of the holidays 3 months after they were taken.  Yet...here we are.  One specific rite of passage that blends both dread and excitement is the task of creating Christmas cards every year.  Some years inspiration hits and the cards practically print themselves.  Other years, well... it’s more chore than joy.  Something that isn’t a chore, however, was enjoying the adorable Christmas dresses handed down from the Wheeler family.  I love this dress!

I particularly loved it this year because NomiAnn sent us a Kewpie doll that somewhat exhibits a family resemblance.

A Groupon coupon and a few patient hours later - we had an option worthy of our Christmas card.  For the record - it is a BAD idea to try and take family pictures at JC Penney’s on a Saturday afternoon in December.  Talk about a madhouse!

Thankfully, a cute kiddo will fix a whole world of rushed photography.

Oh, the Christmas cards, you ask?  Thanks to another Groupon and a few hours spent carefully scoring for the best design, we were able to order some great quality, affordable cards.  Just days later - we received 100 of these cards in the mail!

I’m sure the Pattersons were lovely people in the year 20XX - but I really didn’t feel the need to send out their picture to our loved ones.  Sigh.  Thank goodness for Staples’ 24 hour turn-around printing service!

When all else fails - and your once “ahead of schedule” plans fall through and become “just get it done before the New Year” I recommend consoling yourself by indulging in delicious homemade chocolate covered pretzels.
YUM!
